Assessing suicide risk at the Montreal CRDITED
Health and social services professionals have noted a recent multiplication of cases of suicidal ideas among people with an intellectual disability (ID) or a pervasive development disorder (PDD). However, to date, no tool for detecting the suicide risk has been adapted for these populations.
The objective of this project is to network intersectorial expertise in order to adapt a suicide risk estimating tool for a population with an ID or PDD. This tool, which will respond to an urgent need in practice settings, will allow a more adequate response by interveners to suicidal manifestations of persons with an ID or PDD based on the best scientific knowledge in the field. It will also fill a need from national and international practice settings, due to dissemination activities.
